Appearance: Seifer has a long scar, quite distinguishable if only for its twin mark across Squall Leonhart’s face, direct parallels. It lances from the bridge of his nose to up over his forehead. His hair looks short-cropped, high about the ears and nape. Where it should come across as organized, he has a few strands that’ve come free across his forehead, suggesting instead of being trimmed, his hair is actually shellacked tightly into place to give the illusion that it is, and combed down tightly. He has piercing green eyes and an ever-present smirk, even after having lost. He wears a dark grey trench coat with a cross style red pattern across the back.
Personality: Seifer has a very short, hot temper and in the beginning at least, was depicted as something of a bully with a desperate need for attention. He’s independent to the point of recklessness, depicted most acutely by how he abandoned his team-mates during SeeD exams and went his own way. As a result, though Seifer completed the mission, he failed the exam since he didn’t seem to know how to work well with others. When he defected from the Garden and went to serve the sorceress Edea, he became leader of the Galbadian army. It’s suggested in flashbacks that Seifer isn’t entirely above redemption, he just has a driving need to prove himself and goes about doing so in all the wrong ways. more.
History: A Seifer’s childhood is shrouded in mystery. Like the other orphans he ended up under the care of Matron, who would later become the Sorceress Edea. All seven kids (Quistis, Squall, Irvine, Selphie, Zell and Ellone) lived in a white lighthouse on the coast of Centra up to early adolescence. As a kid, Seifer teased Zell, calling him chicken-wuss, and started up an established rivalry with Squall that would later turn downright neurotic. Seifer was never adopted into a family, and was transferred at a certain age to Balamb Garden military academy, along with his “brother” Squall. He was given a ‘guardian force’ to summon, but the sacrifice was that the longer you used the GF, the more memories you sacrificed in order to do so.
The orphans ended up forgetting the orphanage and their childhood almost completely. Seifer was an extremely gifted student but his temper and mere presence gave him a somewhat bad reputation. The teachers seemed to despise him and he had trouble getting along with other students, except for Fujin and Raijin, who became the trifecta, breaking the rules in a variety of ways. He didn’t pass the SeeD exams, failing twice but he showed his humble side by being the first to clap and congratulate all three. The day after the test, the graduated SeeD were sent on a mission and Seifer followed after skipping out on detention. Before reaching them, he was more or less seduced by the sorceress Edea into joining sides. It would have worked great for Edea, if the orphans hadn’t started regaining memories of their childhood, and if Seifer hadn’t started recalling his attachments prior to meeting her. He fought Squall several times, and as time passed, Seifer started to sink further, spiraling deeper into his dreams until he reached a breaking point. After the final battle he fell right off the map, while the ‘good guys’ celebrated their victory and moved on, seemingly better for it.
